I grew up in Massachusetts with quite a few moves around the east coast. I had an interesting family life; both of my parents got married and divorced several times (to different people) and I happily ended up with my aunt just before my 9th birthday. From there on I had a pretty normal life; grew up with my Aunt, Uncle and two cousins. My Dad still was around; he was a Police Officer and therefore had crazy schedules (which is one of the reasons why I lived with my Aunt) but he was still a huge part of my life. I always had alot of hobbies. I was in competitive dance classes since I was young, winning several national championships in both Tap and Jazz so Dance has always been a big part of my life. I also read alot and even did my own writing; my first poem was published when I was in 8th grade in a national publication. When I got into high school I got more involved in the arts; Chorus, Show Choir, Theatre, Marching Band and Color Guard. Was even the Captain of the Color Guard all while still competing nationally in Dance. Busy times! After high school graduation I went into the military. Yep. United States Army Military Police Corps. Went to Ft. McLellan, AL and then onto Camp Casey, Korea. Korea was an interesting time; hellish to go thru workwise but FANTASTIC for dating. For every one american woman there was 200+ american men. Heehee. Fun times. Need to get some of those pics on-line soon; I was blonde! Back in the states after active duty, I got involved with the Boston Rocky Horror cast; The Full Body Cast. For the next 8 years that was pretty much my world. Met most of my friends thru Rocky and eventually moved to Boston proper with a few of them. This is also when I *really* started costuming. I had gotten my first sewing machine when I was 13; I asked for a leather jacket for christmas and got a sewing machine instead. Ah well, it worked out in the end! Made my first costume in High school; I was a belly dancer in one of the school plays. When I joined Rocky I started making all my own costumes for Columbia. Then Magenta. From there I started making costumes for other people. I also did alot of Medieval 'roleplaying' which introduced me to the wonders of corsets and gowns. And it just went on from there. |
