Bad Breeder
Cheyenne North; Hug a Mug Kennels in NJ I did a TON of research before I got Ickis. I was living in an apartment that didn't allow pets so I kinda occupied myself while I was there with going online and learning everything I could about Pugs. I thought I was pretty ready to begin my search for a pup buy the time I was ready to move. I was referred by a online 'friend' to 'Hug a Mug Kennels in NJ. I contacted the breeder; Cheyenne North about possibly buying a pug from her. I asked her all the questions you are supposed to ask and she answered them all the way they are supposed to be answered. I live in Boston and I drove 5 hours down to her home to check it and her dogs out. She had one male and 4 females, all beautiful. She also had a little Chihuahua. I liked what I saw and put down a deposit to have the first choice of the males. I was given a contract stating that fact and also that he would come with papers. I made arrangements to come visit once the puppies were born to make my early pick. Unfortunately that was the week of September 11th, 2001. Cheyene is a nurse and went into NY to help, I certainly did not begrudge her having to break our meeting. I spoke to her a few times over email and made arrangements to pick up my puppy the last week in September. I was informed that there was only one fawn male (which is what I wanted) so there was no need for me to come down early. September 28th I drove down to pick my puppy up. 5 hours straight there. When I arrived Ickis was sitting in the middle of the room waiting for me. It was love at first sight, as it always is with puppies! I was not allowed to see the mother, I was not allowed to see the other puppies. I was told they were sleeping. Ok. I paid her the balance, put Ick in his new crate and began driving home. It took me 7 hours to get home with the frequent stops I made with the new pooch. By the time I got home I had my doubts about his breeding. After contacting several pug friends I was pretty sure I was mislead. I contacted Cheyenne about my doubts and to this date she has refused to admit he is anything but a pure pug. She did offer to replace him but I refused to give him up. She now refuses to return any of my emails in reference to the papers I have never received or anything for that matter. I have reported her to the AKC and Tank's breeder is currently pursuing legal action against her. She is now actually SELLING 'Pug-chus' as she calls them online. Interesting. The moral of this story; DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE!! |
